The Hydrogen Challenge
Build it. Test it. Power it with Hydrogen!
The Hydrogen Challenge is a hands-on clean energy programme where students design, build and test a small vehicle powered by a miniature hydrogen fuel cell.
Sponsored by industry partners and delivered by hi-impact, the programme gives schools a practical STEM experience while giving sponsors a clear, credible regional impact story linked to clean energy, skills and future careers.
Built around your local industry
hi-impact works with industry partners to bring the challenge into schools and communities. Programmes can be shaped around local priorities, projects and career opportunities, helping students understand that the technologies they are exploring in the classroom are already being developed and deployed in the world around them.
Where appropriate, industry professionals can become part of the experience too—sharing their expertise, introducing real careers and helping students see the people and organisations behind the energy transition.
A meaningful way to inspire future talent
For sponsors and industry partners, the Hydrogen Challenge provides a practical platform for STEM engagement and community impact.
Rather than simply telling young people about hydrogen, engineering and clean energy careers, the programme gives them something they can build, test, improve and remember.
It can help organisations:
engage schools and young people in areas where they operate
raise awareness of hydrogen and the wider clean energy sector
introduce students to engineering, technical and emerging energy careers
create opportunities for employees to engage with local communities
support STEM, skills and social value objectives
build a credible story around investment in the future workforce
